Detailed Itinerary:

Ya’an Bifengxia Panda Base is located 160km southwest to the city of Chengdu near the mountains. By driving it will take about 2.5 hours to get to from Chengdu. In the morning you will start from your hotel by 8 o’clock. 

After arrival, you will use the public bus run by Bifengxia Panda Base to get to the panda park. Bifengxia is also a zoo for different animals. There are 2 different parks in Bifengxia need separate tickets to get in. One is the panda base and Bifengxia itself, the other one is the zoo. Bifengxia means Green Hill Gorge, which what you see prove it is green and hilly. The river gorge next to the panda base is a nice walk after your panda visit if time allows.

The panda base in Bifengxia serves as a research and rescue place for pandas. It has normally about 20-30 pandas in this place. These pandas are kept in different enclosures within the park and each one is within walking distance although you can choose to use their golf car to save the walk. Bifengxia Panda Base is the oldest panda base and the one that feels to be in the nature where pandas live.

The visit takes about 2 hours. After the visit if time allows, you can also walk the Bifengxia River Gorge to see some green nature. The walk is about 40 minutes too 1 hour on steps.

After the visit, drive back to Chengdu. You will be dropped off to your hotel or anywhere in the city that you prefer.

Travel Tips:

 

1. You are recommended to start early in the morning even before 8 o’clock to avoid the traffic in the morning.

2. Bifengxia is a very humid place, and it is the wettest place in Sichuan. It rains often.

3. There are other places of interest to see in Ya’an near Bifengxia Panda Base including Shangli Old Village, Mengdingshan Tea Plantations. Extra arrangement can be made upon request.
